Phosphorescent - C’est La Vie

‘New Birth In New England’ sounds like a bad Jack Johnson tune, and I might never forgive Matthew Houck for that. But despite the annoyingly poppy island vibes of that song (which, admittedly, has grown on me since I first heard it back in the summer), I’ve come to like this album a lot.
It might not have the same charm as 2013’s Muchacho—and it certainly doesn’t have another Song For Zula—but it’s still good enough to land in my top 25. And honestly, isn’t that what really matters?
